So, below, you can see Irma Pineda’s Spanish version as well as Wendy Call’s ‘bridge’ into English. Her translator Wendy Call has created a ‘bridge’ translation into English, which we are asking you to adapt, co-creating a translation with Wendy Call and Irma Pineda.Īs many indigenous Mexican writers are also fluent in Spanish, it is often the first language they are translated or self-translated into, and the Spanish translations can act as a ‘bridge’ – allowing for new versions of poems in multiple languages that often wouldn’t otherwise exist (fluent translators of many indigenous languages being few in number). Though her poem is in Isthmus Zapotec, you don’t need to know Zapotec to take part in this challenge. We were also interested in her work with Irma Pineda, who writes in Isthmus Zapotec, and are thrilled that she has made a bridge translation of one of Pineda’s poems for this challenge. Wendy Call’s wonderful translations of Zoque poet Mikeas Sánchez appear in our issue, along with her co-translations of Juana Karen Peñate, who writes poems in the Tumbalá variant of Ch’ol, a Mayan language spoken in Chiapas. Poetry is one of the ways by which such languages can be preserved, its writing often a work of activism as well as care. 63 of those languages are indigenous, and many are critically endangered due to both a history of colonialism, and those who would still extract resources from indigenous ancestral lands. Weightless Texas Rig Now that we’ve gone over how to use a fluke during different times of the year, let’s talk more in-depth about the different techniques and rigs used to fish them. You could also use a crankbait if the fluke fishing is not doing well that day. Twitch aggressively and chances are you’ll be reeling them in all day. Here, you’ll be targeting fish that are moving off their beds and back to deep summer holes. This way of fishing them is great for finding bass when you’re not sure where they are located.Ĭast towards points or rip rap where bass might be spawning. The body darts and weaves through the water just like an injured baitfish and bass love to eat those. Post Spawnįlukes are great when fished weightless. Toss this near beds to entice bass to attack. The nail weight keeps the nose of the lure down on the bottom of the lake or river and imitates a feeding baitfish. Place a nail weight into the nose of the lure and then rig the hook through the nose and out through the back leaving the hook exposed. Spawnįind a fluke that’s in the color of a feeding baitfish. Look for any type of cover such as stumps, debris, laydowns, or anything that a skittish fish might be looking for something to hold onto and keep away from predators. You’ll want to fan cast areas that bass like to hold to. During this time it’s best to throw a Texas Rigged Fluke. Often, when they are not feeding it’s because they’re focused on moving up more shallow to their beds. Pre Spawnĭuring this time bass are either feeding aggressively or not at all. Bites might be subtle so you’ll need to keep a close eye on the line for any movement that may indicate a strike. Slowly work this lure across the bottom of the river or lake. Target flats near dropoffs, or on secondary points that lead into areas where bass like to spawn. During this time you can use a fluke on a drop shot to entice those slow-moving bass to eat your lure. Cold Waterīefore the spawn or when the water has to warm up for the spring, you’ll find that bass can still be pretty lethargic. Lastly, with Chaeldar, the Jungle Horrors tasks are a very prevalent and useless option. If you’re dropping one set of dragons, you’re best dropping them both. Probably just as bad (if not a little worse) as Iron Dragons. Bronze Dragonsīronze Dragons share many of the same issues as the Iron Dragons, with the caveat that their drops are arguably worse. And don’t make the mistake that “slight” drop improvements are anything other than literally being “slight” improvements. While it does have “slightly” better drops than Bronze or Iron, that’s simply because it’s that much more challenging to get through. The good news is that it will stay throughout the rest of Slayer if you do block them. Even when you get one of these weapons, they are still terrible options that are a slog to deal with and get through. Just a brutal task until you get a Dragon Hunter Crossbow or Lance Iron Dragons are not fun in the slightest. I would recommend blocking and not dealing with them until after you get a cannon. In this instance, Suqahs are horrendous to deal with if you don’t have a cannon yet. You’re going to not have the same issues with them based on your current level. Suqahs fall into the same category as the Black Demons from earlier. They are not good, terrible experience and money per hour and also far to reach. It’s in your best interest to block them outright as soon as you can. They are some of the most annoying monsters on this list while giving you almost nothing good, and the things that are “good” are just ok. Ents are very hardy, difficult to kill, and offer very little in return, except if you chop them then you can get some money. The good news is that the Ent shares the same percentage of showing up as Earth Warriors and many other options that have come on this list. EntsĮnts are also just a complete drag to deal with here. Krystillia Earth WarriorsĮarth warriors have many of the issues as others on this list have out in the wilderness for not much reward. It’s recommended that you drop the tasks for right now and only consider checking back after you’ve got a few levels under you. If you’re starting, Black Demon slayer tasks can be pretty horrendous without much by way of drops to show for it. While they can be pretty good (good enough not to be blocked, anyway), the same isn’t true at the earlier levels. Black Demonsīlack Demons are kind of an interesting situation. However, if you’re past that point, and money isn’t an issue, go ahead and block them if you can. If you are a bit lower level and don’t have a ton of money, Wyrms may be something worth your time. The one thing going for them is that they offer a decent amount of money for people starting in the game. Wyrms follow closely after Drakes and share many of the same issues. Not only that, but they are still a waste due to the lack of good drops. A definite #1 block, Drakes, is everything wrong with the dragons but just more prevalent.
